Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,
as suggested by Umm Raiyaan masha’Allah I’ve bought the du’as card from Learning Roots alhamdulillah. I was surprised ’cause lately my shopping online experiences haven’t been so …. we can say… “happy” LOL!
I’ve received the cards in 2 days masha’Allah and finally been able to stick them around the house alhamdulillah! As soon as I’ve stuck the first one in the kitchen, I’ve seen my oldest son showing interest to it… all those colors and arabic writing…
And yes, it’s true, they are very helpful for us grown up too alhamdulillah! So, if you want my opinion too…. buy them insha’Allah!
When toys can be “halal”

Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh
Last Sunday we’ve finally bought some “more” toys for my son, alhamdulillah! I was feeling so sorry for him. Other kids, children of some friends, have lots lots of toys mash’Allah and my son was having his usual “2″ toys. Some very basic ones: some colored rings (similar to those in the picture) and another one made by different materials and shapes.

I’ve been waiting to buy some more as I couldn’t find some ”halal” ones. Well yes, no music or faces and stuff like that. I’ve been looking everywhere, also at the “Learning Centre” store but nothing…. and too expensive subhan’Allah!
Well, (insh’Allah) Allah rewarded my patience and my “wish” to give my son the right toys alhamdulillah! We bought at the Carboot Sale on Sunday!!! For 1£ each! And my son and I love them ! (even if it looks I do more than him
) I know, Ines would tell me “You see!!”. I’ve never thought that Carboot Sale would be so useful mash’Allah
Here the toys we bought mash’Allah!

And they are all wooden ones… my favourites mash’Allah!
At the Chinese Market

As salamu alaykum wa’ rahmatullahi wa’ barakatuhu!
Here in London there is any kind of supermarket mash’Allah and so you can find any kind of food. Not far from where I live there’s the Chinese market called “Wing Yip”, (don’t ask me how to pronounce it
) and I really enjoy going there to shop. First because there are some nice veggies sold there and a good choice of fresh fish too mash’Allah!
Not even talking about the spices, rice, sauces etc. I love it!
I enjoy choosing and buy some soya sauce, since there are plenty choices. Same for noodles and as I said before spices! The nice thing is that all this is sold at a good price alhamdulillah! Chinese Shops’ owners go to buy there so that’s why the prices are so competitives.

Another important “reason” that takes me there is the way to the market. It’s far from the town centre and has got trees on the right and on the left, gardens and just few people walking around. I relax from the beginning I leave home until I come back mash’Allah! Usually, when I’m back from the town centre, I’m “exhausted” subhan’Allah! Next time I’ll try to take some pictures of the street insh’Allah
Anyway, yesterday I’ve been there and I’ve finally decided to try their sweets, actually I was keen to buy some brioches from the Bakery, (or Cafè, not sure about this), next to the supermarket, (where there are also 2 restaurants). One person was before me and while I was waiting I was having a look around. Then my turn, served with a “sad” Yes,please!? (hmm, starting bad like this for me!). I’ve asked the girl behind the counter if those, (pointing the fingers at those coconut & cream brioches), were vegetarian and, with a “sad” look this time, I’ve received a rude answer like “What? What is it?” … “It’s ok, leave it” has been my answer back! What is “Vegetarian”?? In London, in 2009 you don’t know what “Vegetarian” means? I wish she just didn’t want to serve me to be honest, I hope she knows the meaning of the word! I went out of the shop with a big ? on my head thinking “Who cares, who knows what they put in it, I’ll make my own brioches insh’Allah”
This was the end of my “adventure” yesterday at the Wing Yip… I just relaxed on my way back home alhamdulillah! Not with sweets but with the trees, flowers… the beauties from Allah mash’Allah!
Shopping in London

As salamu alaykum wa’ rahmatullahi wa’ barakatuhu!
It’s always a nice adventure for me to find a nice khimaar here in London. Or a jilbaab of “good” quality subhan’Allah!
There are few areas that I’ve visited: in east London there is Whitechapel Market (I guess there, in the east, it’s full of “islamic” areas … but this is the only place I’ve been to.. sorry). I’ve been there few times and once I’ve also bought a jilbaab… I guess it was about 30£ but to be honest… a waste of money subhan’Allah! At that price, in Algeria, I could have choosed and bought the material myself, taken it to the nice tailor where my sister in law goes, and had it “my own style” mash’Allah. But anyway, alhamdulillah!
In the west of the city, instead, I’ve been in Sheperds Bush. You find a market there as well but also one or two shops. I’ve been in one of them called “Sakeena” and mash’Allah I loved it! Really good quality things! I bought 2 khimaars there at the price of 10£ each but it was worthy to pay that price.. I mean, I don’t go to Algeria every month so that I can have jilbaab and khimars done mash’Allah! I didn’t find anything else nice in the market… just some lovely “Ghanian dresses”… don’t know if that’s the right name, but I call them like this ’cause I have a Ghanian friend and she has got some of those. I couldn’t find a picture of them over the internet… but they are usually made of bright colours, quite “large” style and very confortable for summer time (obviously to wear at home
). Anyhow, I didn’t buy any of them as I’ve got plenty “home dresses” alhamdulillah, all gifts from my family in law mash’Allah!.

And then, the area that I visit the most is Tooting Broadway, in the South West of London (maybe because it’s not far from where I live
). I really like it because, apart from having a market as well, has got a long street with shops (clothing, food etc.) and on the same street there is the mosque, so you are sure to have a place where to pray when it’s time mash’Allah. Here I bought a niqab, some books and video lectures mash’Allah. I’ve been there quite lots of times as I really enjoy it mash’Allah. You can find some very nice jilbaabs there too but, in my opinion, at a high price (about 50/60£ or even more). But then it depends, if you don’t have choice, it’s better to buy 1 of good quality and spend a bit more than 2 or 3 at a very cheap price and then they might last for few months only.
These are the few places where I’ve been to “shop” for clothes, I’m sure there are plenty of them in London but I should make a “trip” to know them all subhan’Allah!
..Just wondering, what about where you live?
